Jane Darin, 1939-2020, Artists Guild Past President (2010-2012)

The Artists Guild is sad to announce the death of Jane Darin on February 6, 2020. Jane served as President of the Guild from 2010-2012. She followed her husband, Joe Darin in that role after his term in office 2004-2006. They both were tireless in promoting the work of the Guild as it evolved, making artists’ presence more visible to the San Diego art community through a series of Fine Art Fairs and the development of a website that would promote exhibition and sales of the artists’ work online.  

Jane heralded the use of social media to Guild members as early as 2008 when many did not really grasp the significance of this new form of communication. She was an accomplished sculptor and dollmaker. In 2019, she launched a project to share her knowledge and love of the art through dollmaking courses made available online.  Her passion for representing the human body, movement and facial expressions came through in her many works.

Jane was equally passionate about the role compassion plays in our human experience. She will be remembered for her generous spirit and loving support of all whose lives she touched.
