About Sandra Hayen

Sandra always loved to draw. Even though art was her favorite subject in high school, she did not go to college in search of an art degree but started working in business and taking care of her family.

When she was in her 30s, she took an art adult education class in La Mesa.  On the advice of her teacher she began taking workshops and various art classes.  Thus she began a journey that she had been looking for all her life.  She explored many different types of medium of art.  Then she discovered oils and fell in love with them and only focused on painting in oils.  She spent many years of training to replicate the great Master's of art which is strongly evident in every one of her paintings. Her exquisite floral paintings, landscapes and seascapes are a testament to her perfection as an oil painter. 

In her paintings, she focuses on tones of dark and lights rather than color.  It is important to her that viewers of her art sense feeling and mood.  

For many years she taught oil painting in adult education, which she enjoyed very much.
