In Memoriam, Jeffrey R. Brosbe, Photographer
With great sadness, the Artists Guild announces the passing of long-time Guild member Jeffrey R. Brosbe.
Jeff was an extraordinary photographer, creating fine art photographic prints in extremely limited editions. He became attracted to the camera in his early years. While living and working in the Middle East, and traveling throughout Europe and Asia in the 1960’s and 70’s, he began creating his photographic images which he called moments in time.
The shape and light became as important to him as the subject matter.
In the mid-1990’s, he started submitting his work to competitions, public art associations and galleries and received instant recognition. During his career, his fine art photographic prints won numerous awards in national and international juried exhibitions and can be found in many private collections.
Jeff loved to travel, experience new places, and encounter different cultures. Much of his work was created on his trips to foreign countries and he delighted us with many wonderful images from his travels.
One of Jeff’s quote about his work:
The body of my work is eclectic and reflects the themes I focus on. I am still compulsively drawn to images that are social commentary or street photography. As the light hits me and the lines fix my attention, I also capture abstracts and even the occasional portrait or flower. I love to travel and do the majority of my photography while traveling.
Jeff served on the Artists Guild board from 2008 until 2012 and, after he stepped down, still supported the Guild in many ways: presenting during our Artists Discussions Meetings, supporting our Centennial Project and giving advice whenever we needed it. He will be greatly missed.
