Next Atelier Meeting via Zoom
Wednesday, July 15 - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A few of us have been noodling possible conceptual art happenings and have come up with two very resonant options for you to consider.
1) an exhibition/installation on the concept of MYTHS - (A) traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon and typically involving supernatural beings or events. (B) a widely held but false belief or idea, i.e. a misrepresentation of the truth; a fictitious or imaginary person or thing; an exaggerated or idealized conception of a person or thing. We have not determined a place for this exhibition so keep your eyes open.
2) "One Day in the Life of Newport Ave-Ocean Beach"- we will explore, immerse, and interpret Newport Avenue and hold an exhibition of the work tentatively at Shift Gallery in OB (potentially in Spring 2027). Guild board member and 56-year resident of OB, Mark-Elliot Lugo is working on this. If another gift falls from the sky, we will also publish another catalogue. To date we do not have a non-profit partner with stipends for this one.
Julie Weaverling has volunteered to manage the "Myths" exploration and I will be curating the Ocean Beach activities. Any and all help is appreciated especially for future and/or ongoing social media presence.
