The San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild &
ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station
present
Virtual Artists Discussions Series
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, we are conducting our Liberty Station meetings via
ZOOM until further notice. However, these meetings will give us the opportunity to at least connect with our Guild artists virtually and see each other’s artworks.
Therefore, we cordially invite you to join us for our next ZOOM meeting:
Saturday, January 9, 2021 - 10:00 a.m.
We will start with presentations of attendees’ artworks.
Please have a piece of your artwork ready to hold up to your computer when your name is being called. Or use the “share screen” function to show your work virtually.
11:15 a.m., Mitchell Wachtel presents
Floral Swings,
inspired by music of famous Jazz musicians.
Mitchell Wachtel is a tenured professor of pathology at Texas Tech University School of Medicinein Lubbock, Texas. He is celebrating his recovery from COVID with a series of
floral images, inspired by the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and other famous
Jazz musicians.
After his father's death in February 2016, Mitchel began to take photographs to ensure a 10,000 step walk every day so that he might be similarly blessed with long life and good health. He would then show these images to his family by iPhone to help keep them together and in contact. Eventually, family members suggested he show the photographs to the public.
Since then, his work has been shown in many juried exhibitions across the country.
All profits from the sale of his work go to charity.
