ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station
present
Virtual Artists Discussions Series
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, we are conducting our Liberty Station meetings via ZOOM until further notice. However, these meetings give us the opportunity
to at least connect with our Guild artists virtually and see each other’s artworks.
Therefore, we cordially invite you to join us for our next ZOOM meeting:
Saturday, February 13, 2021 - 10:00 a.m. to noon
We will start with presentations of attendees’ artworks
Please have a piece of your artwork ready to hold up to your computer when your name is being called. Or use the “share screen” function to show your work virtually.
11:15 a.m. – Jody Abssy presents
"Two Remarkable San Diego Sculptors”
Jody is the Guild's Historian and chair of the Guild’s Centennial Book Project.
During her numerous years of research, she has been instrumental in identifying
many important artists who were members of the Guild from 1915 through 2015
for inclusion in the book.
Two such artists are sculptors Manuelita Brown(www.tsahaistudio.com) ) and
Ruth Hayward(en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruth Hayward).
Manuelita, a former Guild president, states that her goal is to create bronze figurative
sculptures that edify human beings and the human spirit. Ruth is well-known for her sculptures
of public figures in San Diego.
Jody is a painter and sculptor. During COVID she has set herself the goal to paint a series
of 40 goddesses which she will exhibit at Gallery 21, Balboa Park, in March 2021.
