11:00 a.m. - Alex DeCosta
Director at Hyde Art Gallery, Grossmont College
The Hyde Art Gallery provides fine art exhibitions and interdisciplinary programming to engage the diverse Grossmont College student population and the San Diego region. Exhibitions feature local and international artists, lectures and events to supplement the educational opportunities for Grossmont College students and faculty. The gallery is named after its founder, Marjorie Hyde, who was instrumental in establishing a permanent art collection for Grossmont College before her retirement in the summer of 1978. Ms. Hyde was an artist, teacher and former head of Grossmont's art department. She believed that Art must be a means of communicating with oneself and that communication then touches others. She is one of the artists who will be featured in the Guild’s Centennial Book.
Grossmont College is in the process of building a new 38,680-square-foot Performing and Visual Arts Center, which will house a 390-seat teaching and performance theater and will also include the new Hyde Art Gallery. The projected completion date is slated to be Spring 2020. For more information, please go to: www.hydeartgallery.com
There is no charge, however reservations are required.
