The Colors of Zion

Traveling back from Yellowstone National Park, I stopped at Zion National Park.  Zion is a truly remarkable place.  I took a tram to the end of a canyon where I took a short hike along the Virgin River.  I took a path off the main trail that led down to the river.  This is what I saw.  The green of the vegetation against the red of the canyon walls seemed almost staged.  I took this shot at 8:15 in the morning of October 4, 2012.  It was quiet except for the sounds of the river and birds.
